Friends, I remain unbooked for most of my dates in June. I’ve been sending out e-mails to random people and places and mostly just not hearing back, even after repeat e-mails and messages. I’ve contacted a smattering of places and the few who have written back have had helpful responses while a handful have claimed they’ll let me know if they hear anything. Such is life.

All that being said, I’m still looking for shows in the following places with the bold cities (i.e. almost all of them) being the main focus. Keep in mind, just because the city listed isn’t where you live, does not mean I won’t play your town instead. I’m down to play in any venue (especially your house) in any city or town. Also, if you have a stage I can play on at CornerStone, please write me as well.

After this, I’ll be heading back out to New York to meet up with Destroy Nate Allen for a week or so shows down the coast line before heading out Misery, MO to perhaps do a string of shows with Kevin Schlereth before FINALLY heading home through the SouthWest to all of my favorite places like Portales, Phoenix, Fresno, and hopefully somewhere in the San Jose area. (along with other stops, of course) But I’ll post those dates when they’re relevant.

As an aside to tour lyfe, I had a very mediocre performance at Grand Prix Minneapolis finishing 5-4 running a mage-blade variation that heavily under performed. I obviously should’ve just stuck with the traditional list that I had been piloting for the last four months, but oh well. The list was influenced by a list that Josh Silvestri had posted in a recent article involving mainboard mental missteps (which were great), divine deflections (good, but underperformed), and restoration angels in place of dungeon geists, which I don’t think was the right call at all. I skipped on the Tamiyo from his list. All weekend, no matter how I chose to shuffle (piles of 10, 8, 7, 6, 5), riffling, or just slamming the two halves together, I often drew unplayable hands of 7 and 6 and was forced to mulligan down to five and four fairly often. I’m blaming it on the new sleeves I purchased for the event, but in reality it was just a sporadic random event. I’d post my list, but I don’t feel like typing it out. I also had mana issues when piloting my out dated superfriends list in the scg invitational qualifier on the Sunday of the Grand Prix finishing that with a record of 3-3-1. I very well may take a break from both mage-blade and esper superfriends to try out the mono blue architect deck that Brad Nelson piloted to a second place finish and perhaps the nemesis known as r/g aggro. The SCG Open in Columbus is just a couple weeks away so I gotta figure something out and practice up! I’d love to hear your deck ideas if you have any. Smi77y’s Kamakaze list looks kind of fun. I’m also working on a brew based around Angel of Glory’s Rise with a friend. Maybe it’ll be good?

outside of falling into tour mode and thus becoming a little loopy, what with being alone so much and singing Sufjan’s Chicago in La Dispute vocal stylings in my car, life is just fine. mostly stressing about the lack of shows June is providing and thus forgetting to enjoy the scenery and life that is surrounding me everywhere i go. Also, I think cities in Wisconsin are laid out extremely weird to the extent that I think I’ve just driven into the neighboring SimCity with the artsy creator who just wants to be different than everyone else despite the fact that what they’re doing is just not enjoyable or practical. the new mewithoutyou record is fantastic. I mean, I’m not sure how it compares to the rest of the discography or where I’d place it but it’s a great record. I’ve been enjoying the dancing it makes my eardrums partake in.

I still have a lot of shows to book. I apparently forgot to do this for the last few months. Atleast 5-10 of the ???’s from my last post are now actual shows. I’ll update that in the next few days. I’m too tired to do so right now. I’m shifting my focus to the Post-Cleveland shows and accepting that the unbooked shows prior probably won’t happen. It just doesn’t seem worth the energy of booking last minute shows and getting ignored when I could be booking shows at least a month out. 

I’ve spent the last few days in Spokane hanging out with friends that I haven’t seen in awhile so it’s been nice to see their faces. I want to post things more often but currently don’t feel the need to share a whole lot outside of “help me book shows” and that’s no enjoyable. Maybe I’ll jump on the instagram band wagon so I can have sweet faux aged pics from tour.

I’m going to sleep.

These are all of my tentative dates for the first half of my tour. I have an additional 6 - 8 weeks planned out after this, just not sure of the specific cities I’ll be trying to go to on that. At any rate, getting these dates filled is my focus. Most of the off dates are for Grand Prixs and SCG Opens.

I’ve been considering adding the lyrics and chords to this tumblr page, but at this point haven’t because I’m lazy. If you go to my bandcamp page, all of the songs should have the lyrics posted along with them if you click on them.

My inspiration largely comes from  what I perceive to be my character flaws or short comings, especially in regards to my romantic life. Though, I have plenty of songs that are not about those topics. In my mind, my lyrics are often super shallow yet somehow cryptic to everyone else. While I don’t typically like to explain my songs in detail, you’re more than welcome to ask about specific songs or lyrics!

i’ve been procrastinating a lot lately. Between working my part time job and studying magic, i haven’t accomplished a lot in the form of tour booking. i have written a couple of new songs in the last few weeks, however. tentative track listing is as follows

1. spineless // surgical extraction (mirages of friendship)
2. 90 lb. Wuss (Ice Cage)
3. Shallow Water
4. I Am Narcissist // Schizophrenic
5. Fantasy Reality // Real Lies
6. Trainwreck

as you can see, i haven’t really settled on a lot of song titles. five of these songs are in half-step and four of them start with a c chord while the other two start with an f. four of them are basically the same riff and / or chord progression the whole time while one of these songs has a chorus. just some fun facts. i may have two or three different recordings of mirages on the ep and i may re-record i don’t know where i am going and slap it on here, but probably not. expect to see at least one of these songs on the next full length which i’m sure will end up with a couple of other re-records. we’ll just call the next lp drowning man for now, out may 2013, i’m sure.

speaking of tour, i’m re-working some of my routing post-chicago (not that any of you know my routing…) now that i don’t have to rush to portland, maine and back to st louis to pick up kevin schlereth as we won’t be doing anything together until post-cornerstone. i am going to fit in more big magic tournaments also, preferably tcg5k’s and scg opens, but we’ll see what happens. some date i could use help with are as follows

i’ve decided to start “blogging” or something of the like and have another social network site of sorts. check back for random things.

in other news, i will be doing a us tour starting on april 20th in salem, or and lasting through august or september. the first week will be with his name shall breathe and i’m sure there will be a short stint with kevin schlereth and hopefully some shows with other good friends like insomniac folklore and destroy nate allen.

i have yet to name the tour but i’m sure it’ll be another magic reference as i will naturally be participating in three to five grand prix’s while on tour. i am most excited for the modern gp in columbus, oh in late july. i will once again accept magic cards in exchange for merchandise.
